HSRA Hip Hop Band to perform at First Avenue

HSRA, Another Level Records and The Fo-Show’s first hip hop band will be performing Sunday, August 19th at 5:25pm at First Avenue Club downtown Minneapolis. “Da 4″ will be performing at the Yo The Movement annual Hip Hop Festival (www.yothemovement.org). Band members Corey Stampley, aka Tha Octopus, Jamal Aiken, Preston Scott, aka Ruby P, Brittian Scott, aka Talent, Ron Baker, aka Serious, Chris Bryant, aka Lost Cauz and Jeremy Hicks, aka Bishop will light up the stage and bang out some hard beats and lyrics. The band has been preparing for the show under the watchful eye of stage pros Layne “Big Daddy” Bellamy and “TC” Ellis. Famed artist Ta-Coumba Aiken will present a new design for the band members to showcase as part of their stage attire. We’re asking all of HSRA and Studio 4’s family to come out to support the band. We’re looking for a big crowd. Rumor has it that cameras from MTV will be in the house video taping the performance. Also, check out “The Fo-Show” table at the show to get the most up to date information for the next season. We look forward to seeing everyone at the show.

Parent Night - 5:00-7:30PM Thursday, May 17

Please join us for our final Parent Night this year as we celebrate our student successes with their families. Projects, performances, and dinner will be served up as we close the 2006-2007 academic year. This is a great time to meet with your student’s advisor for a final review of your student’s progress. Hope to see you there!

HSRA Students Perform at Executive Leadership Council’s 20th Anniversary Dinner

HSRA was proud to participate in The Executive Leadership Council’s 20th Anniversary Dinner celebration in Washington, DC on October 26, 2006. Founded in 1986 by 19 executives representing the most senior African Americans in corporate America, the individual membership organization today represents more than 350 African American corporate executives who are among the most senior executives in Fortune 500 companies.

HSRA alumni Donte Suttle and Aleesha Clomon opened the dinner with a performance of an original song they created entitled, “Executive Leadership Council.” To commemorate the event, a CD with this song, “Corporate America,” another song created for the event, and “Influences” a cut from the school’s 2006 compilation CD was produced and distributed to all 2500 dinner attendees. This CD project is called The Legacy. Distribution of the CD to dinner guests was sponsored by ExxonMobil.

We here at Studio4/HSRA are very grateful to The Executive Leadership Council, their Lead Dinner sponsor AIG and ExxonMobil for the chance to participate in this event. We appreciate the kindness and support Executive Leadership Council members have shown our students and we welcome the opportunity to establish what we hope will become longstanding relationships.
